Position Description
God is calling New Horizons Christian Church to follow Jesus by demonstrating Christian love, serving our neighbors and growing with God. (New Horizons Christian Church Statement of Calling)

The New Horizons Christian Church is seeking a person to lead and equip us in the “serving our neighbors” portion of our statement of calling. This person will help our church connect in a deeper way with the people of our community as well as help them connect in a deeper way to Christ. The primary target of these efforts will be young singles and young families.

This person, working with our Love, Serve, and Grow Teams, will help New Horizons to evaluate and assess our current programs of evangelism, outreach, and small group ministries and assist us in envisioning and launching new programs while building on successful programs such as the Back to School Party. In addition, this person will lead a process that helps assist each person in our church in identifying and claiming his/her personal ministry.

While it is anticipated that this ministry will have an impact on each aspect of the New Horizons Statement of Calling, the primary focus will be outward rather than inward. Ex: A possible intersection of these portions could include launching a weekday program for our neighborhood and church involving small groups, children’s and youth programming, worship, and fellowship. Another might include helping lead us in evaluating our hospitality to first time worshippers.

The ideal candidate will have experience in and a passion for community ministry and will be a self-starter. Other qualities include: creativity, ability to learn new things and to teach others, willingness to be coached, flexibility, adaptability, and a team player. A personal commitment to being a disciple of Jesus is essential. A seminary degree is not required.

Through the Claiming God’s Vision Fund, a fulltime compensation package is available to support this position for three years.

This person will report directly to Pastor Jim Bane.
